Aquaman is the perfect movie to end a long string of poorly received DC movies (Wonder Woman being an exception). Director James Wan has created a film with all the attributes of the quintessential successful superhero movie (of recent times): adventurous but emotional plot, light humor, dramatic action and special effects, and actors who can portray their characters with style.
Jason Momoa delivers a suave performance that fits his character's brute-force-can-solve-anything attitude perfectly. Amber Heard does well in her role too. Wan has played it safe with a pretty straightforward plot with no superfluous twists or shocks, and screenplay that doesn't try anything unconventional. Comic sarcasm prevails thanks to Momoa and Heard. The special effects are also pretty amazing. The way an underwater world has been created, with the kingdom of Atlantis and all the sea creatures, is really cool.
In summary, Aquaman is a film that is simply meant to be enjoyed, so you can't really go wrong with it.
